Local Associations 

New River UniServ is an affiliate of the Virginia Education Association representing educators in Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Grayson, Montgomery,and Pulaski , well as the cities of Galax and Radford. If you are interested in joining the VEA or becoming more involved contact your local president.

Carroll County Education Association

Carroll County Education Association has successfully advocated to improve employee compensation. The association has active building representatives and meets regularly with the Superintendent to discuss issues that impact educators and students.

Floyd County Education Association


The Floyd County Education Association has been actively working on compensation. FCEA leadership regularly attends School Board and Board of Supervisor's Meetings. Keep up with the FCEA on Facebook.

Galax Education Association

Galax Education Association is a small, but very active and successful local. Each month, we offer free professional development opportunities for members. We also have a Books for Babies program which gives a free book in English or Spanish to every baby born in Twin County Regional Hospital to promote early literacy. We give a scholarship each year to a future educator. We have prepared and served food in the local soup kitchen. We have collected needed supplies for the local homeless shelter. We also work closely with our Superintendent and School Board to ensure a positive working environment for employees. We have successfully lobbied for raises, sick bank policies, dental insurance programs, and increased personal day roll-over policies.

Giles County Education Association

The Giles Education Association is very active in their community! They have hosted a Put Kids First Rally to advocate for students, educators and public education. Their advocacy was recognized at the state level. GCEA is working to increase employee compensation and funding for public schools in Giles County. Like the Giles Education Association on Facebook

Grayson County Education Association

The Grayson County Education Association is a small group that is beginning to be more active. We’ve had several members join me this year in attending school board and board of supervisors meetings in order to accomplish our goal. We have been advocating to get everyone on thier correct steps after being frozen. Our members fundraise yearly in order to finance the Carol Wheatley Memorial Scholarship which is given to a student going into the teaching profession. GCEA is making a difference!

Montgomery County Education Association

Good things are happening in Montgomery County! The salary scale has been corrected to align with teacher's years of experience. Each fall the MCEA holds a Celebration of Education with performances from schools, artwork and the Superintendent, School Board and other local elected officials in attendance. Pulaski County Education Association

The Pulaski County Edcuation Association is standing up for public education! PCEA was actively involved with the Just Build It Campaign to fund a new middle school. This advocacy paid off! PCEA also is involved in their community and regularly sets up booths to read aloud to area students. Radford Education Association

Radford Education Association has a proven track record of advocating for students and school employees. REA is involved with their local and school communities by helping out "The Book Lady" and sponsoring the REA Writing Contest. They also have partnered with Bobcat Backpacks and more events within their organization. REA worked very closely with the school board, superintendent, and budget personnel to make strides in compensation and insurance increase relief.
